Books in the Wild Winners Announced!

Books in the Wild has finished for another year. Books went roaming across Waitakere with some books found in truly wild locations like Karekare and the Waitakere Ranges. Others went completely feral and were never seen again.

The programme prize winners are:

Winner of Most Books Read (Xbox 360 and games, she registered all 10 books – one of 22 students to do so):
Ekta Shandil (Year 9 student at Kelston Girls College)

Here’s how it works:

The three R's of Books in the wild:
Read a Books in the Wild Book
Register it online
Release it for someone else to read. Hand it to a friend or leave it laying around in your school somewhere.

Loads of books were released throughout Waitakere high schools in early August 2009. Students were encouraged to hunt them down, read them, register them on this website, answer a question, then release the book back into the wild for someone else to read. Simply by participating in the programme they had the opportunity to win some awesome prizes.

Books in the Wild is a local reading programme run by Waitakere Library and Information Services that is similar to BookCrossing; the world’s biggest free book club! Anyone can join the hundreds of thousands of BookCrossing members around the world. Go to www.bookcrossing.com to check it out.
